Project Based Learning
Exploration to Mars
After analyzing historical primary resources and conducting scientific investigations and research, groups of students will design a presentation to convince a panel of experts from NASA to fund their unique space colony proposal.
Curriculum Focus
Math: 5th Grade Common Core Fractions
5.NF: Students need to use equivalent fractions as a strategy to add and subtract fractions, and to apply and extend previous understanding of multiplication and division to multiply and divide fractions.
ELA Writing Focus: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.5.1
Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information.
